After watching the movie, although the class was already dismissed, Several people were still sitting, gazing at nowhere, feeling complicated – who would ever think Henry Paulson will be displayed in a totally different perspective? The impact for viewers is enormous. That’s no joke. He seemed exhausted when working for the government, while the outcome wasn’t getting better at the moment (at least that’s what I thought then), however he was part of the reason of the crisis.
It’s an unprecedented financial disaster ever happened in the world, and by the documentary we watched today, a huge amount of money has flowed to a minority, as the economy of U.S. experienced a tremendous setback. Who is to blame? Actually that’s an easy question to answer. Anyone who take part in this gets their own responsibility – they made the nightmare come true. That’s how the magic of nightmare works – if it’s not happening in the real world, people at the moment are still fine. The crisis is buffered. The biggest winner goes to the ones that is enough early to enjoy the benefit of it and early enough to get out of it.
An interesting here it comes: do the people behind the crisis know that they’re in fact controlling a nightmare, and more importantly, a nightmare that would eventually come true? I think they do. Nevertheless, that worths dreaming, since they were actually facing possibilities – something dangerous is about to happen, but it can be far, just if the road they take is likely to lead their way. That remind me of the prophecy of the end of world – we’re on our way to that, but just not today.
After the documentary, feeling heavy, some comparable facts are to be seen, that is, again, human has constructed many complex scenarios, and make it too hard to control. The society then becomes unstable again, and that repeats within an amount of time, the length so short that although the desperate end is evident, it just couldn’t be halted. So, instead of asking who is to blame, one might consider what is to blame? The system? The trust? The desire? The emotion?
After all, as we become more united, we are more isolated, by troubles, big or small.
